After living in Philadelphia for 3 years, I’ve finally ridden the ducks – the Duck Boat Tour!  Last summer, a horrible disaster occurred in which a duck boat stalled out in the Delaware River.  Unable to move and waiting for help, a much larger garbage barge plowed right over it.  Several Hungarian tourists were killed.  I have a soft spot for these unfortunate folks, as I identify with Hungarian heritage.  At the time of the accident, Kyle and I had just been starting to function as a unit, and this was one freak event that we were able to bond over, believe it or not.  Riding the Ducks with Kyle was a very special moment in my life, and I’m sure it was exhilarating for him as well.

Captain Norm answered many of our burning questions on the tour, especially about the color of the Ben Franklin Bridge.  It’s painted “Ben Franklin Blue” – the color lightning makes when it strikes.  If it wasn’t Fete Weekend at Elfreth’s Alley, I’d walk right up to Ben and thank him for discovering electricity.  But I don’t want to pay $20 to do so.
